This green and pleaseant land.
After a late morning arising, and some work on the rig Chris wanted to
do. He and I left for a visit to
Whidbey island, to visit some friends
of his.
The Ural gets plenty of looks, folks honk when they pass, and often stop
to talk when they walk by. The ride to the ferry terminal in Mukilteo
was pleaseant, about a 20 minute ride north of Seattle.
The ride to the ferry was mostly freeway from Seattle, but nice in any
case. The ferry ride had little sensation of being on a boat, but then,
the sound was mirror pond smooth, and the weather, superb.
Both Chris and I remarked on how much Whidbey reminded us of England.
The weather was superb, a slight breeze, no rain, great sunshine. The
roads were pleaseant to ride on, and the traffic basically non-existant
once you got away from the ferry terminal. Trees shade the roads,
dappling the view, all within an hour of Seattle (shshh!)
Jean, one of the friends Chris was visiting, raises Wirehaired Wiener
dogs, although, from the looks of them, she doesn't raise them very far.
But what they lack in vertical height, they more than make up for, in
expansive heart.
The other friend, Jerry, raises mules, but for some silly reason, I
didn't get any pictures of them, I will remedy that soon.
Chris and Mum are are going to Whidbey on friday, to visit some more,
and Kat and I will try to join them on saturday. At least, that's the
plan. Will update this, then.
