Crows don't ride bikes

It's 2855 miles from Anchorage, to Oklahoma City, as the crow flies. However, this journey, is not being taken by a crow. But by Chris, my brother. When he reaches Seattle, he'll pick up our mom, to complete the 1526 miles (again, measured by crow transit numbers) remaining to Oklahoma City.

The noble steed they will be taking, is, like the route, a little off the beaten path. It's an Ural , a copy of a german WWII motorcycle, modernized a bit, and made in Russia.

This site is going up for the sole purpose of following Chris and mum on their journey. Hopefully, I will be able to put up some photos from the trip, and I will be providing a map of the route, updated daily, or as often as I can. Chris will be calling in with the lat long of their location each day. At least, that's the plan. The journey should begin on or about the 15th of September, 2003. When Chris leaves Anchorage on the first leg. We anticipate his arrival in Seattle, on or about, the 19th to the 20th of September. He has a handheld GPS, so he should be calling me each day to report on the trip.
I will be updating these pages, including adding pictures and notes to previous days, as Chris gets me more info. So don't forget to check back to earlier days than the latest for any updates.

Epilogue

I have spoken with Chris, and he has arrived in Oklahoma City. Chris and Mum both wanted to thank all of you who sent your comments in, and Mum said she had so much fun, she'd love to do it again. So, if someone happens to be taking a sidecar rig on a long journey and needed a passenger, you know who to call.

But I don't think Wilbur will be able to make it this time.
As an aside, the magnetic sign Mum had made for the trip, the sign that made it across mountain passes, and through the long prairie rides, across rivers, and down unpaved roads.
Was lost somewhere in Missouri after they got Mum back home.
So if someone comes across this sign.

Please let me know. Wilbur swears he had nothing to do with it going missing. But he said that about that stop sign too.

Meanwhile, I shall go back to lusting after a nice Retro Ural like this one.
